The SBT Nordic Forum has now gone live! A large group of companies in the process of setting, or have already set, science-based targets under the SBTi (Science Based Targets initiative) are expected to join and begin supporting each other to increase the pace of change. Linnea Turnstedt and Helena Söderqvist reveal more in a 2050 insight.
Why is a Nordic forum needed for work on scientific climate targets?
SBT Nordic Forum has grown out of the need to increase cooperation between companies that plan to set and work to reach science-based goals. The forum aims to be a powerful and unifying catalyst that increases the pace of change in businesses’ climate work.
VFor a long time, we have received signals that there is a need to somehow bring together the companies here in Sweden and in the Nordics that work with scientifically set climate goals in order to learn from each other, to develop the work and to create a common platform that can communicate with the SBTi and society. So, we took the plunge and held a no-strings-attached webinar in January this year. Interest was surprisingly high and today we have 80 expressions of interest. We created a steering group with companies and together we now have a concrete offer to participate in the forum.
The idea is that the participants will together raise the level of knowledge, inspire each other and share experiences and solutions. The SBT Nordic Forum will be a platform to jointly meet the needs of business in the climate transition.
What is the focus going forward?
The forum’s activities will be shaped according to the needs and expectations of the
members. Already, a number of focus areas have been determined based on
discussions with members and the steering group.

- Development of a platform for dialogue with the SBTi

Who is behind the forum?
The founder of the forum is 2050 Consulting AB. Since 2013, 2050 has acted as an
advisor and practically supported the business community in the climate transition with analysis, communication and strategy.
The forum’s advisory steering group exists to create relevance and constantly develop content in line with the needs of participants. The steering group works to drive the business world’s shared climate work.
With the support of the steering group, the forum runs and develops, and 2050 is responsible for project management, programs and implementation.
