Scandi Standard

Strengthens Its Biodiversity Efforts

How do you address biodiversity across an entire value chain? Scandi Standard engaged 2050 to find out.

”The project provided us with a clear direction for biodiversity and a practical tool that can be applied across the entire value chain, regardless of local context or operations.”

Linnea Sörman, Group Sustainability Manager, Scandi Standard

Challenge: Biodiversity as a Business Risk

As a major food producer, Scandi Standard recognizes that changes in biodiversity create risks for its operations. The company therefore, identified a need to further develop and strengthen its work on biodiversity as a key component of its strategic sustainability efforts. This also aligns well with evolving regulatory requirements and increasing stakeholder demand for transparency regarding how Scandi Standard addresses biodiversity.

Solution: Frameworks and Practical Tools

In collaboration with Scandi Standard, 2050 developed targets and actions for biodiversity based on recognized frameworks such as the Science Based Targets Network (SBTN) and the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD).

The work also included the development of a “toolbox” of concrete actions that actors across Scandi Standard’s value chain can implement, depending on their specific local context and operations. These actions were designed to be both practical and feasible across different parts of Scandi Standard’s operations and value chain.

Results: A Shared Direction Forward

Scandi Standard received a flexible tool that can be easily used both internally and by various actors across its value chain. The tool provides clear guidance by evaluating each action based on feasibility and impact.

A key objective of the project was also to consolidate biodiversity actions under a single strategic framework, thereby establishing a shared direction forward for Scandi Standard and its value chain partners.
